hi i have never seen any topic like this before so i decided to start a new poll.

I would have to go with Sirius cos he has been like on of the highlights in Harry's life and he would have made a really awesome father...sniff ...Then I would have to go with Dumbledore after Sirius cos DD has always been there to help and guide harry no matter the situation...

Oh my dear goodness, I love that topic title... "Who is your favorite dead character?" ... I dunno, it just struck a chord with me, I guess!

Anyway, for me it has to be Sirius Black. Marlene McKinnon is pretty much a non-character, as are Gideon and Fabian Prewett. While I'm sure that Lily and James were great people and I love them in Marauder-era fanfic, we still don't know enough about them for me to feel that sort of emotional bond to their characters.

Dumbledore's death actually made me a lot more upset than Sirius's did -- characters getting killed in books usually doesn't make me too sad, but I really felt terrible when he went, probably as a result of Harry's emotional response. Nevertheless, I still have to go with Sirius as the favorite... Dumbledore's wise, but Sirius was the rebel, and when your protagonist is OotP-angsty-Harry, you just can't beat the sarcastic/reckless one.

Gah, I voted Sirius Black right before I had registered that Dumbledore was on the list. Ahhh well.

Oh, how I do love the Marauders! Definitely some of my favorite characters!

I would have to say my favorite is Dumbledore. He has so much wisdom and he is the only one that Voldemort ever feared. I have such great respect for his character and I am so sad that he died. It was a tragedy for the Wizarding world. I cried and cried! Lol. I'm just a little (sarcasm) bit emotional.

Dumbledore all the way! I think I was literally shell shocked for half an hour when I got up to the part of his death.

Although, as guilty as I am to say this, the more time that passes from last July, the slightly less enamored I am becoming with Dumbleodre. <Gasp!> I've suddenly become frustrated with him. Firstly, if Snape was not trustworthy, how could he trust him? Why did he not at least tell Harry why he thought that Snape WAS trustworthy? Didn't he learn anything from his experience the year before, when he realized how detrimental it might be to leave Harry in the dark? And if Snape really is a good guy, how could Dumbledore not warn Harry before that night that he might die? How could he not leave last-minute instructions or warnings? (Well, maybe we'll find out more about that it book seven!)

But anyway, even with my slight grumblings against Dumbledore, he's still my favorite dead character!

Bellatrix has never pushed him into the veil,it was my worst moment when I was reading the Harry Potter books.

I voted for Sirius because he was one of my fave. characters before he died and I loved his personality and how he cared for Harry. Of all the dead people I have missed his presence in the book more because he was a really cool character. I also do not feel that I will miss DD as much as him.

I voted on Dumbledore, cause he was amazing...and i really liked him... and i never imagine that he would die...that was pretty shocking!!!

And, like, i never liked Sirius, and I love Bellatrix, I, kind of liked Sirius' death [please, people...don't kill me!!!!]

I haven't been on in a while, but my favorite of the lost is probably Professor Dumbledore. He was such a great wizard and good person. He was always looking out for Harry too. I miss him more than any of the others.

i voted for sirius, because he was already my fave when he died, poor man... i cried when this happened, i like dumbledore, too, but i didn't vote him, i don't know, i liked sirius more than him, but i must say that I cried my eyes out when he died, well, no when he died, but when hagrid was carying his body...

I'm surprised not many people are voting for Dumbledore! I definatly did, I didn't have to think bout it. He is so wise, so loyal, so kind, so forgivving. I just love him. I'm not so fussed on Sirius. *Ducks as many objects come flying* He bugs me. *Gets hit on the head by a sausepan* which reminds me, lunch!

I have chosen sirius - who is deeply sexy. He is loyal, fun and cool - what more could a person want?

not sure if this is the correct place to post this (I'm a newbie - sorry) but I have been looking up theories concerning his death and it might just be me clutching, grasping and gripping at straws but hasn't JK said that someone ould display megical tendancies "late in life" = since she has dismissed students and harrys' aunt - could this possibly be a refernce to the deceased since you could describe someone who is dead as being 'late' i.e. the late sirius black

I couldn't decide between any of them, so after hours of sitting in front of this screen scratching my head, I have to say that I will miss Dumbledore the most. He was Harry's last hope of surviving to kill Voldemort, and now he's gone. I can't believe that JK Rowling has killed off so many people. That's just sad.

This poll was rather difficult for me, because I thought Dumbledore was a very important famous wizard, but in the end I chose Lily Potter because she died for Harry and I thought she was brave. I like all the characters that died anyway..

I had to vote for Sirius he is a great character in this book an is a good highlight in harrys life.

Sirius gets my vote. He showed his strength in his ability to sit in Azkaban for as long as he did without ever giving in. His attitude and dialogue are two of my favorite pieces of the books.

Dumbledore, because of how he conforted Harry after when Sirius had died, and he told him what was going to happen. And because he says, "Im not scared..Im here with you".. said that to Potter, kind of like a second father to Harry.

I chose Sirius. He might have been a bit reckless, but he was a great friend to Harry and acted as a father figure for him. He was one of Harry's only contacts and I was so sad when he died! You can't go wrong with the marauders, except Wormtail. He was brave, loyal, and a great person up until his death.

I couldnt vote, I like DD, James, Sirius and Lily. I couldnt decide which one to choose so I did not vote at all!!!!

Sirius! He was a really great person and was funny and supported harry no matter what he did. He was like a father to Harry and he really cared about him. You always thought that Harry would go live with him until the 5th book. It was very depressing to read and it was something you wish didn't happen. Although I miss DD, I really really miss siruis!

My favourite dead character is Dumbledore, he is so powerful and he's a very big loss in the fight against Voldemort (if he really is dead)...

I picked Sirius because he was so great to Harry.He was like a father to him.I've always liked all the marauders,except peter,especially Sirius.I would have loved to know more about Harry's parents.I can't wait to see them young in OotP.

Sirius. I love everything about him. His loyalty, his father-like expressions and such, his odd bond, that child-like attitude he has, everything. I was so sad to see him go. Sadder than when any other person died in the books.

Sirius is my fav dead character; and I hate that he died before he got a chance to clear his name. But I do hope that in the last book Harry fonds some way to exonerate him posthumously.

I like Dumbledore and Sirius! They both helped Harry when he needed.But I've voted for Dumbledore because he always could help Harry and knew almost everything!Sirius was more like a father for Harry but he couldn't always help Harry because he couldn't be all the time near him!Also Voldemort was afraid of Dumbledore!Only Dumbledore knew almost everything about Voldemort and really could help Harry!
