After the Burial
First of all, welcome to all the new Slytherins! By all means, let us know your thoughts on our theorizing and offer any of yours that you wish. Now, onto Draco's fate in Deathly Hallows.....

QUOTE
Whatever happens, I'm thinking Draco probably won't become a Deatheater.

Draco already is a Death Eater. He has the Dark Mark. That does not necessarily mean that he will remain a faithful, loyal Death Eater, though. I do not think he has the courage to turn away from Voldemort. He is still so young. At times I look at Draco and see nothing but a little boy who is too scared to do anything other than what he is told or expected to do. I see him being a Death Eater. He will serve out of fear, not loyalty (much like Peter). Since Voldemort knows Draco is not a killer, I doubt that Voldemort will treat him particularly well. The next year of Draco's life is likely to be a sad, dark and painful one. At least, so says me.

i definately agree with that
i think draco only pretends to be evil because of the whole power and glory that seems to come with it
but when it actually comes down to doing evil things he cant
he likes the idea of being popular and having power, i think thats partly why he hates harry so much, 1.he rejected him as a friend 2.he gets a lot of popularity, draco doesnt like him stealing his crown
i think draco could be convinced to turn good, maybe eventually, i dont think hes pure evil like voldemort, bellatrix etc

Does he? Just because he supports Voldemort doesn't automatically make him a Death Eater. In OoTP, Harry ask Sirius if his (Sirius') parents were Death Eaters because "they thought that Voldemort had the right idea about things". Sirius told him no, that only his brother, Regulus, was that foolish.
Also, I don't remember anywhere Draco saying he has the Dark Mark or showing it to anyone.
Now, as to Draco's fate in Deathly Hallows...
I agree with AtB about Voldemort's concern for Draco, it's nonexistant. As Narcissa told Snape in the beginning of HBP, Voldemort commanded Draco to do this as a punishment for Lucius' mistakes, period. Voldemort believed this was win-win for him. Draco fails and he suffers the ultimate punishment-death, and Lucius lives the rest of his life (such as it is) with the guilt of contributing to his only son's murder. Draco succeeds on the other hand, and Lucius lives with the guilt of contributing to making his son a murderer. Oh, and Dumbledore is out of the way forever. The only thing that Voldemort did not forsee was that perhaps Snape would assist in the way that he did. Although, knowing Voldemort, I can't imagine him being to happy about Snape being the one who allegedly (I still maintain his innocense) committed the deed. Voldemort lost his spy at Hogwarts and the Order. He's not going to be very happy with Draco, who showed cowardice, or regret.

There's still hope for Draco.

I'm not sure if Draco is a Death Eater.
Remember when he was getting his robes fitted and Harry saw Draco flitch when the lady was altering the left forearm of his robe?
Also he showed something to that man when he was asking if he could fix the Vanishing Cabinet.
On the other hand I dobt that Voldemort would trust a 16 year old who hadnt even passed his N.E.W.Ts to join, he doesnt seem "worthy" enough. He also had little faith in Draco killing Dumbledore and getting the Death Eaters into Hogwarts as he promised that if he failed it was death and as he thinks of Draco as weak he thought of it as a good punishement for Lucius and his family for failing to retrieve the prophecy in one piece.
Voldemort is going to be suprised when he finds out Draco did it but angry that Snape helped and also disappointed that he won't be able to kill Draco...but knowing him he will probably kill Draco anyway laugh.gif
clara morgue
Oh Draco certainly does have the mark, and thats shows something, greyback works for dumbledore but doesnt have the dark mark, and countless other follow him, but dont have the dark mark. However, just becuase Draco has the mark of somebody in the closet ring of Voldemort supporters, it doesnt mean he actually belongs there. No, Voldemort would not trust him with important information, or a task that relyied on draco succeding, draco was there- as is the mark on his arm and the tasks he had to complete- as a reminder to his parents, to remind them of their failures.
He is also a link into hogwarts, though Voldemort already had Snape- why would he need another, another liability? Draco is a 'Death Eater' and would be convicted as one in frotn of the wizengamot, but he is there to be killed, not to carry out a great task, he is there because of his paarents, not because ofwho he is.

I totaly agree. Why would Gaunt think a bunch of scratches on the Resurection stone were a coat of arms??? it seems kind of dim witted of him. And yes, harry would be the heir of slytherin, wouldnt he??? So when the chamber of secrets was opend, wouldnt "enimes(sp?) of the heir, bewear." mean the enimes of harry should be careful? its all kind of confusing. i was shocked at first to hear that snape was a good guy all along. he acted like a true hero. Im also alittle dissapointed that draco went to the good side...i think the world could use a little more evil. biggrin.gif but why didnt harry die when LV hit him with avada kedavra? its all sort of confusing there, but when you think of it..... what was that thing that was in the DH with him? it was sort of creepy.
clara morgue
Yes Elias..

Yes i agree...
the book didnt live up to all of our expectations. it was verry good and all, but i just didnt think it was as good as the others. but i still want to know if anyone has any idea whatsoever what that thing was in the DH with harry. it was kind of creepy. But when the book said that LV must have overlooked the three Hallows in the book, it makes him sound dim-witted. but thats just my oppinion. how could he overlook something so verry powerful?? it all makes him seem weaker than he is.

And another thing ...

By "Master of Death" they didn't mean immortal did they? Just undefeatable? And I don't Harry is the heir of Slytherin. He isn't a descendent of Slytherin, he's a descendent of Slytherin's anscestor's Brother. Maybe he's Voldemorts uncle or cousin or nephew or something, hahah..cousin seems more appropriate. It's kind of sad though...I don't know if this is a spoiler..but I won't take any chances.
» Click to Show Spoiler - Click Again to Hide... «

I'm starting to doubt if I should be in Slytherin again. Not because of the book. I had a nightmare [about 2-3 weeks before I read the book, so I hadn't been thinking about it. This was an original dream created by my strange imagination. And there wasent a whole destruction scene] about the end of the world..it was the scariest one I ever had yet, and I ended up crying in it and begging them to forgive me and take me instead of my family [they weren't there..and I think I did for my friends..I said everyone that I care about..] because I felt that I didn't deserve to live as much as them even though I felt I was in no place for negotiating [and admitted it] considering that I felt I might be..going anyways. And now that I think of it I haven't done so many horrible things [my sister did but she isn't a bad person] as some of the people who I had begged..them to spare. All the bad things I've done have been minor. And I think most of the bad things I've done hurt me more instead then other people..the bad things I've done that have affected other people. [and no, I am not an emo. This isn't a physical torture thing.] And my theory on dreams is that if dreams feel real enough then I think that you'll actually do the things if they had happened in real life. [That's why I'm scared of having a dream where I kill or hurt someone intentionally.] I woke up all freaked out and was more high strung then usual like it was going to happen again. I know Slytherins can be brave. I just need someone to convince me that I am a Slytherin, because this dream has had more of an affect on me [and if it is telling me that I am a brave person. I've been thinking that I'm probably not a very brave person the whole summer and this dream came] then any test or quiz I've ever taken, so of course I'm doubting.

Eep! So where does Deely Heely leave me? I’m in Slytherin not because of a fun-quiz but a grueling two-day process from my former job. Before that event even begun they passed out a psychiatrist’s card for free help afterwards. Sorting is the firm’s most precious secret on why they operate so well. So unlike JKR I really know how the four houses are supposed to work together. We got shafted! I throw my hands up and say this was written by children’s school teacher after all, not a leader, what did I expect.

Very intense dream LadyCakeage. I get conversations with Voldemort. He says ‘that woman is telling the story wrong’. I replied ‘Close the RaiCo gates and shut her out’. He angrily gestured to the gate hanging in the sky over the water. Apparently it wasn’t completely successful. The bridge beyond was lengthened to reduce the flow to a trickle. I repeated, ‘Close the gates, I’ll help you’. Now that got his interest. I’d know we were successful when JKR has a Harry Potter dream. Huzzah! Another indicator of success was her going to a hotel to finish writing. There's sometimes transient gates in places like that. Best of all was reading the final book. I think it worked.
DracosLady
Hey all! I've been slowly but surely reading Deathly Hallows, and I am a bit dissapointed to see that Draco is hardly in the book at all! Whats up with that? Anyway very interesting dream indeed clara morgue a little odd but interesting. After reading the Deathly Hallows the other night I had at instead of Harry looking for the Horcruxes I dreamt it was Draco looking for them. It was quite sad really cause he found them all and then Voldy got upset with him and used the Cruciatus Curse on him.....*sigh* it was sad I am so not looking forward to the end of the book...Long live Draco!

Well, that does seem like a very odd dream. i also had a dream where it wasnt voldemort that died but harry died and the world was all evil and the wizards took over the world. it was a strange dream. blink.gif anyways. but i keep wondering too. why didnt any of the slytherins stay to fight? im mean, Crabbe, Malfoy, and Goyle all stayed but they didnt fight did they? anyways, crabbe died so what use would he be?
DracosLady
I finished the book finally and I was glad to see that my prediction about Draco was true! He did not fight with Voldy he kinda fought against him. What was the proof when Draco was on the balcony with the Death Eater and Harry and Ron were firing off spells towards the DE Draco was helping them to get rid of the DE then the guys saved Dracos neck again! I was impressed that Draco showed that he was not a true Death Eater no matter what oters might say! Sorry about thinking it was your dream clara morgue my bad! Anyway you guys have a good one see ya on the dark side, where we have cookies lol.

QUOTE(Slytherin_Girl)
why didnt any of the slytherins stay to fight?

Because it would be against their own families and friends. Besides that it would mean that no matter who wins the siege of Hogwarts, the Slytherins survive and thrive!

Blast from the past! Now that was a great page of our S-House. I didn’t pitch my book into the fire, but did pass it down to another. When he’s done I’ve got the receipt and will get my cash back. Wraiter, I said no cheese in my Deely Heely! I’m a sleek stylin’ Slytherin and don’t need that gooey grated glut clogging on my mind.

Now a cookie from the dark side, I'll say yes to! tongue.gif

Well now thats it's all said and done and the series is over *sigh* what does everyone think that all of the Slytherins are doing now that they are "grown up"? hello guys,
i just got sorted here.
it's the house of one my favorite harry potter characters - professor severus snape, can't wait to be part of his house.
Slytherin_girl
Welcome one and all to the fabulous house of Slytherin!!! Im so happy to see that more people are joining in on our ways... wink.gif yes, the talk has been low for a while, i must agree to that. with the series over, whats there to talk about? But im going to bring something back from the past. This is from GOF. did anyone notice how much the Slytherins were in that book? i mean, all the interveiws and the Daily Prophet stuff, the Slytherins were always the ones to tell Harry, werent they? its kind of strange...
DracosLady
Welcome annesches and [b]vm85[/b ! Glad to have you here in Slytherin. Yes Slytherin_Girl the Slytherins were in GoF quite a bit, they always seemed to be the ones to tell Harry what was going on. What saddens me in the differences between the books and movies, the Slytherins get booku coverage in the books but then seem to get shafted in the movie roles. They really don't get the respect they so richly deserve. I'm hoping in the final two movies that Draco and fellow Slytherins will get the onscreen time more than in the past 2 movies.

they must!!! as the book 6 was named after the heads of slytherin house - severus snape the half-blood prince. draco and severus' characters has grown so much in the series, especially the final two, so i also hope that they have much more story and screen time this time around.
DracosLady
I totally agree, since Draco has such a major role in HBP I do hope it transfers over to the big screen. He has not had much screen time since PoA, and that is very dissapointing. I love to Draco's charactor on screen it makes the movies so much more entertaining.

I really don’t know what they would be doing. I think it depends on how well received they would be in the wizarding community. Draco did show a flair for potions.

I just wonder if Draco is embarrassed by his father’s past. It would be hard to escape that reputation Lucius created.

DracosLady
I think that Draco probaly is embarrased by the actions of Lucius, and unfortunately he will never be able to live it down now that its all said and done. At least Draco learned from his father's mistakes and did not follow in his steps, Draco is a better man than his father in my opinion.

yeah i think he is a better man than his father anyway, because he had shown fear in killing dumbledore and was about to trust him, he had shown the act by already dropping an inch of his wand before the sudden appearance of the death eaters. also when
» Click to Show Spoiler - Click Again to Hide... «
he is much more humane thain his father. i think he was a spoiled kid that needed to live up to the expectations of his family especially of his father, that's why he became what he was.
DracosLady
Draco is what his parents made him. They spoiled him growing up gave him all the material things he wanted and therefore because of their actions they created the person that Draco eventually became simple as that. But I do feel that Draco learned from Lucius' mistakes by not repeating them over. Good Draco wub.gif

Marcey tongue.gif
qabbani
I hate interrupting the conversation, but I've been sorted into Slytherin and thought to make my introduction: Hello.

And continuing on the past thread, don't you think its possible that because Draco got everything from his parents, he felt obligated to join the Death Eaters as a form of payment? Or at the very least, hero worship of his father? As children, we aren't shown the negative aspects of our parents personalities or the negative impact that they may have had on the people around them: parents are infallible. And of course, Draco was never truly given the chance to gradually get older, he had adulthood thrust onto him; and when he did, the truth about his father dawned on him then?

DracosLady
I think that Draco did exactly what his father wanted him to do even if he himself did not feel comfortable about it. Lucius wanted Draco to fit the perfect mold that he wanted and could care less if that is what Draco wanted or not. Lucius was all bout himself and wanted his son to represent the same values and such as he himself had been doing for years.

Lucius only cared about his wants and needs and wanted Draco to be just like him, and Lucius would acheive these means any way he could regardless.....I believe Draco did come to terms with what and who his father truly was after Voldy gave him the task of killing Dumbledore, but before then draco had the blinders on bout his father. But once he realized what Lucius was all about he did not want to be like his father at all, and realized that he bit off more than he could chew.

hi qabbani, welcome!

oops almost forgot the tags.

any thoughts?

qabbani
It's true, I mean, if one looks at the typical Slytherin characteristics (resourcefulness, cunning, ambition, self-preservation to a certain degree) then the way that the book ended made perfect sense. It's logically impossible for all Slytherins to be evil or death eaters or even hate Harry Potter- the books are written from Harry's perspective, so naturally he's going to be biased against them.

and for the record, I love Narcissa Malfoy. Her last few decisions reminded me so much of the positive sides of the Black family (familial loyalty, courage, etc.) that I cheered.

(p.s. I don't think I gave anything away- I tried to be subtle, but if I did, please don't hesitate to tell me!)
DracosLady
Again you cannot base all of the Slytherins on behaviors of past hoouse members, it makes no sense. But as I have said before, because of the reputation the house has been given over the years all Slytherins are stereotyped as being "bad" but as we all saw in the final book that much was not true for our Draco, he turned out to be an allright guy, but I do feel as he went into adulthood, he became somewhat bitter about all that had happened in his life as a child. I think that he was most bitter about Harry saving his hide those two times. But overall he proved that he was not a mold of his father which is a good thing. Speaking of Lucius whatever became of him after the final battle?

hi geni welcome to the house of slytherin!

the malfoys had managed to escaped yet again from the ministry, maybe because of golds, lucius didn't end up in azkaban.

Season
I think they might be living in their manor safe and sound and not show up in the wizard world for a while. Maybe Harry said something for them because Mrs. Malfoy sort of saved his life. Or they possibly moved somewhere else for a few years until everything cleared up.
DracosLady
I do think because Draco owes it to Harry for saving his hide that there is a possibility that Harry did say a "good" word towards the Malfoys so that Lucius could be spared as well as Draco and I do feel that with Narcissa covering for Harry that may have helped that along as well.

I really wish a book would come out that would tie up all of the loose ends of the final book. Like what did Harry and all of the Hogwarts students do during the 19 year gap? Did any of them finish school? What became of everyone else?

Marcey tongue.gif

I feel bad interrupting this great thread...but since I just got sorted into Slytherin I just wanted to say hi!

for whatever its worth I also thing Draco did exactly was his father expected of him as his father was a death eater. So we see here how family was important to him which he clearly got from his family. Its hard sometimes to go against your parents wishes for you...whether you agree or not...
