Emma Watson, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint are on the cover of this week's issue of Entertainment Weekly. The three stars discuss about Half-Blood Prince movie and their future in acting. Check out some quotes released by EW:

During the production of Half-Blood Prince -- the final chapter to be set within Hogwarts School -- Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Watson wore their characters' Gryffindor House robes for the last time. "I was like 'Burn it!' Oh my god, to be done with those shoes and that uniform -- that was an exciting day," says Watson. Radcliffe adds, "When you're 18, one of the worst things to be wearing while trying to chat up a girl on the set is a school uniform. You look like a kid! You’re not going to score dressed like that!"

"My world is still all about Harry Potter," she says. "I really can't see anything beyond it." Radcliffe, on the other hand, is ecstatic about acting. "I have come to the conclusion that I am never happier than when I am on a film set," he says. "This is what I want to be doing. Totally. Absolutely. Unequivocally!"

As we reported a few days ago, the actor who plays Ron Weasley in the Potter films just recently recovered from a small case of the Swine Flu. He spoke for the first time about it today while speaking to press:
"It was quite scary when I first found out I had swine flu," he said at a press conference with other Potter actors including Emma Watson in London. "I thought 'Am I going to die?' But it was just like any other flu really." "I had a sore throat and I went to bed for a few days."

Emma to take three-year break from acting

Posted By Rares on 06-27-09 @ 3:59 PM - 11 comments - Link
The Telegraph reports that Watson is planning to put the brakes on her acting career after she wraps up Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and its sequel, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows II.

The 19-year-old is due to start an English and Art course at university in September and wants to enjoy her time as a normal student, away from the pressures of fame.

"I want to forget about hair and makeup, sometimes on a publicity tour I can't remember what time it is, what country I'm in."

"Now it's coming to an end I'm trying to hold on to it. So I have a book, and everyone I've met has a page. I want to remember them and not just be left with the media version of what happened to me," she added.

At least in the meantime they have the Deathly Hallows films to look forward to—and the much-anticipated kissing scene between herself and co-star Rupert Grint, which she has also revealed some details about.

"We did it two weeks ago," she said. "Four takes one way and two takes with the camera in the other direction. Six takes altogether," she added.

Rupert : kissing Emma was a 'strange' experience

Posted By Rares on 06-27-09 @ 4:29 AM - 7 comments - Link
Rupert Grint, who plays Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter films, has described his long-awaited screen kiss with Emma Watson as a "strange" experience – and admitted that he has never had a girlfriend.

"We've known each other for 10 years so it was a bit like kissing my sister," he told the Mail on Sunday. "We were determined to get it right the first time, but our first try was a disaster because we both felt so self-conscious and we couldn't stop laughing."

While Grint's film love life may be hotting up, the actor says he is in no rush to throw himself into off-screen romances. Despite the attentions of Harry Potter fans the young millionaire says he is "quite insecure" around girls and has yet to find anyone to suit his "weird" tastes.

"I've never been seriously involved with anyone. I've certainly never been in love. I've always preferred to keep things casual," he said. "It's not that I find it hard to meet girls – they do come up and chat me up from time to time. Sometimes I'm interested, I tend not to go for the prettier ones. I prefer the quirkier types."

Harry Potter stars 'should have rebelled'

Posted By Rares on 06-07-09 @ 3:53 AM - 1 comments - Link
In a new interview with The Telegraph, Harry Potter actor Jason Isaacs praises how well Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson have dealt with fame.

Jason Isaacs, who plays Lucius Malfoy, jokes that the films would have benefitted if their young stars had been more rebellious. "The problem with Harry Potter is that there is so little controversy," he complained at the first night of Sister Act, the West End musical. "It would be so great for the press if one of them would go off the rails and end up in rehab, but they are, actually, just really sweet guys."

"They can fall backwards on their mountains of cash," he said. "It doesn't matter. They're really talented and they've got each other as close friends, which is all that matters because no one else has been through the same thing.

"What is amazing about them is that they are still respectful and have humility and work ethic. I have met and sometimes worked with their American equivalents and they have none of those things.

GrandPre: 'New portrait' of 'old soul'

Posted By Matthew on 05-31-08 @ 11:31 AM - 7 comments - Link
In a new interview with Time magazine, Harry Potter illustrator Mary GrandPre discussed the beginning of her work on the book series and the new anniversary cover art to be on shelves this September.

On returning to an 11-year-old Harry for the anniversary cover, GrandPre said, "It was really a nice opportunity. As Harry grew, I always wished I could go back and make a new piece for each book. So when the anniversary cover idea came up, I was really excited to do that. It's like getting to do a new portrait of this old soul you really know...

"The first cover was a designed cover, with a certain trendy feel to it. As you got to know him, it was more about depicting Harry as a real person. By the fifth cover, I was more interested in Harry on an emotional, personal level rather than creating a graphically designed, compositionally correct cover. I tried to bring that emotional and personal feeling to this anniversary cover."

The full interview, which is worth the read, is available here.

Dan on HBP: 'Funniest of the films so far'

Posted By Ana on 12-11-07 @ 7:14 AM - 43 comments - Link
MTV has released a new interview with the cast of Half-Blood Prince, where the actors and director David Yates talk about the additions and changes to the series. Evanna Lynch mentions being wary of approaching Hero Tiffin, who plays an 11-year old Tom Riddle; David Yates briefly discusses the Hermione-Ron-Lavender love triangle; and Dan Radcliffe says that if the film is pull off right, "it should be the funniest of the films so far."

Katie Leung, who is back to play Cho Chang in the film, gives detail as to what is left with her character, who, of course, broke up with Harry in the fifth film, Order of the Phoenix. She states that, "There's still a slight jealousy there with Ginny to be resolved."

Dan and Bonnie Wright, who play Harry and Ginny, respectively, talk about their characters' burgeoning relationship, as well. Bonnie mentions that, "I suppose our relationship lasts longer than Cho and Harry, but remember — at the end of [Book] Six, Harry and I can't be together," she said. "It'll be funny to do [the make-out scenes], but it's just a film! Hopefully people will just enjoy it and not get too jealous." Dan simply states how odd and funny it will be to kiss Bonnie, having known her since she was ten years old.

Emma Watson's official website has confirmed that the air date for her upcoming film Ballet Shoes will be December 26th on BBC1 at 8:30 PM BST. Two new stills with Emma and her costars from the movie have also surfaced online, which can be seen in our galleries.

Also, Emma was interviewed for the January 2008 issue of the UK edition of In Style magazine. The Daily Mail has a few quotes from the upcoming article, where Emma discusses her sense of fashion, what she has been doing lately before heading back to film the sixth Harry Potter film on December 18th, and how she could relate to her character in Ballet Shoes. In Style's site also has a short video, which shows Emma getting ready for the magazine's photoshoot.

Toby Jones talks about Dobby and his fate in DH

Posted By Ana on 11-26-07 @ 6:25 PM - 8 comments - Link
Actor Toby Jones, who voiced the character Dobby in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, spoke to MTV about his character's fate (there are massive spoilers for Deathly Hallows, so heed with caution), as well as the fact that although Dobby has shown up in several Harry Potter books after the second, he has not been asked to do the voice in additional Harry Potter films.

Toby gives credit where it's due when it comes to the creation of Dobby on-screen:
"I can only take a certain amount of credit for inhabiting Dobby, because clearly these brilliant people at Industrial Light and Magic have created Dobby and I just voiced the character,” he humbly confessed. “[But] am always amazed and flattered at how much that character has endured even though he hasn’t been in any films for a while. Every time a book comes out people phone me, and write to me from around the world saying ‘He’s in! He is in!’"

Videos of OOTP deleted scenes

Posted By Ana on 11-15-07 @ 6:05 PM - 18 comments - Link
MTV has posted a few deleted scenes from Order of the Phoenix, which include an elongated segment in Professor Trelawney's classroom when Umbridge inspects her, and when Ron comes to fetch Harry for dinner at the very end of the movie. There is also a behind-the-scenes look at how the Hall of Prophecies scene came to life, showing the six actors walking through an entirely empty green-screen room, and how the final product in the movie was put together.

The article goes into detail as to why David Yates chose to edit Snape's worst memory out of the film, stating that, "We had a lovely actress play Lily, [and] we may bring her back. But by introducing Lily and the Lily/Snape plot, that back story, we complicated it too much. We had to cut it."

Yates thought Dumbledore being gay was 'cool'

Posted By Ana on 11-12-07 @ 5:35 AM - 18 comments - Link
In an interview with BBC News, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Evanna Lynch, producer David Barron, and director David Yates were asked, yet again, about what they thought of Dumbledore's sexuality. David Yates admitted being privy to that particular bit about the Hogwarts Headmaster in September when JK Rowling came for a set visit early into the production of Half-Blood Prince.

During an early script read-through in the Great Hall set, JK Rowling, according to David Yates, "[Leaned] over to me and said: 'You know Dumbledore's gay don't you, David?' And I thought 'Wow that's pretty cool'. The director also admitted that, "He's a wonderful character, Dumbledore - graceful, wise, powerful, quirky, terrific sense of humour, loves knitting. There's a jumble of things in there and his sexuality is just another thing."

Daniel mentions that JK Rowling is entitled to do whatever she wants with her character; Emma voices her surprise at the media attention of the news; and Evanna muses over how the pairing of Dumbledore and her character, Luna, would never have been because of the fact that he was gay.

Emma Watson's reaction to Dumbledore's outing

Another report from the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix DVD press launch is now online, courtesy of the Edmonton Sun. Emma Watson was interviewed by the publication, voicing her outrage and indignation over how many people, fans and otherwise, have reacted to the news of Albus Dumbledore being outed as gay by JK Rowling last month.

Emma stated that, "I couldn't believe what I was reading," as well as, "[this] is the 21st century! I just could not believe the amount of fuss that was being made over Dumbledore being gay."

As for her own reaction to the news, she said that, "I never actually thought about it before but, when she said it, I thought, 'Oh, yeah, that makes sense.'"

Emma Watson's official website was updated earlier today, where photos from the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix DVD press launch, which took place this past Saturday inside Leavesden Studio where the movies are filled, can be found. A handful of photos show Emma Watson being interviewed in Dumbledore's office, as well as her signing posters for the fifth film.

Also, a report from the launch is available online, which mentions that Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Bonnie Wright, Matthew Lewis, Evanna Lynch, Katie Leung, Imelda Staunton, and director David Yates were joined by Emma for interviews. The journalist who met with the actors does give their personal opinions of the actors (both good and bad), but mentions details of the various sets in which the actors were interviewed (some of which have already been taken down for the sixth film). Dan Radcliffe speaks about Dumbledore's outing

Posted By Ana on 11-03-07 @ 8:57 PM - 12 comments - Link
In an interview aired this evening on ITV (it was conducted this past Thursday), Daniel Radcliffe discussed several projects he had worked on with Parkinson, particularly My Boy Jack, which will air on ITV in the UK on November 11th. He was asked about his work in Equus earlier in the year, and of course growing up while making the Harry Potter films. At the very end of the interview Dan was asked about what he thought of Dumbledore being outed by JK Rowling, and admitted that he found it hilarious. He further pressed on that Michael Gambon, who's played Albus Dumbledore in the past three films, and the upcoming sixth, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, had been 'camping it up' lately since the revelation about his character had been announced.

The interview (in two parts), can be watched on YouTube here and here, courtesy of The Snitch.

Full press conference video of JKR in Toronto

The full press junket with JK Rowling when she visited Toronto, Canada on Tuesday for the last stop of her Open Book Tour, is available in video form now (YouTube links here and here), thanks to CBC News. In it, Jo was asked numerous questions about her choice of making Dumbledore gay, stating that she chose to do this before the first book was published ten years ago. She was also asked if she would write a prequel; why she chose to make Harry a male character; her choice in editing the epilogue of the final book; a brief mention of the Harry Potter encyclopaedia and how she has not begun writing it yet; about Harry, Ron, and Hermione's recreational reading habits; and how a part of the success of the Harry Potter films is because it has an all-British cast and is filmed in Britain, emphasising on how Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson had grown as actors.

Many answers Jo gives there do contain spoilers for the last book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, so please heed with caution.

David Thewlis discusses Dumbledore's outing

Posted By Ana on 10-24-07 @ 8:41 PM - 15 comments - Link
Actor David Thewlis (Remus Lupin), was in Toronto this week, where he promoted his new book entitled The Late Hector Kipling at the International Festival of Authors. In a video interview, he spoke about Dumbledore being outed, and how he and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban director Alfonso Cuaron thought Remus was the character who was actually gay.
O.K. but what about the revelation that Albus Dumbledore is gay? Thewlis concedes that threw him for a loop, but not for the reasons you might think. "The funny thing when Alfonso Cuaron directed "The Prisoner of Azkaban, the first film that I appear in, he had the idea that Lupin was gay and he described my character like a 'gay junkie' .And of course Lupin turns out not to be gay because he marries Tonks and has children."

JKR in New Orleans for HPDH signing

Posted By Ana on 10-18-07 @ 5:42 PM - 5 comments - Link
As part of her tour around the US, JK Rowling did a reading of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (from chapter three of the seventh book), and met and signed books for over a thousand young fans from the city of New Orleans, Louisiana. Photos of the event can be seen here, via the AP, and a report has surfaced, as well, where Jo discussed a few things about certain characters (with DH spoilers, so heed with caution), as well as a question about good versus evil:
"Do you believe that good always overcomes evil?" asked Naresha Dumas of Warren Easton High School.

"That depends on what you mean by 'overcomes,' " Rowling said, referring to Harry Potter's battle against the evil Lord Voldemort. "But as long as people are prepared to keep fighting ... it's amazing how small acts of kindness can add up, just living in a moral way, treating other people kindly."
Jo will finish off her tour tomorrow in New York City.

JKR discusses religion in the HP series

Posted By Ana on 10-17-07 @ 5:43 PM - 26 comments - Link
Two new interviews have surfaced online with JK Rowling, both of which were conducted with MTV. In the first, Jo talks about how religion, and more specifically her Christian religious beliefs and how they, "almost epitomize the whole series." There are several quotes from the seventh book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, so please heed with caution if you have not yet read the book.

The second interview has Jo revealing how much information she gave the Harry Potter films' cast. She made specific points about telling tidbits about the seventh book to Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson, the latter of which, according to Jo, knew the most about the outcome of the series. This interview also has a fair few bits of spoiler-filled details, so please don't read if you don't want to know.

David Heyman praises his young HP actors

Posted By Ana on 10-04-07 @ 9:11 PM - 6 comments - Link
In an interview with Variety, Harry Potter movies' producer David Heyman talked about the many young and talented actors that have worked throughout the series. In addition to Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson, David mentions that he's proud of actors Sean Biggerstaff (Oliver Wood), Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy), and Devon Murray (Seamus Finnigan), saying that, 'The smallest part is treated with the same attention and care as the lead roles.'

David does focus on Dan's versatility as an actor, with emphasis on his work in Equus earlier this year:
Good actors will seek out challenging projects, something not always consistent with wholesome family fare. But Heyman insists that he doesn't stand in the way of such ventures. "You don't put a stranglehold on an ambitious young actor who wants to stretch," he says, talking of Radcliffe and his headline-making turn on the London stage earlier this year. "Everybody talks about him being naked in 'Equus' but not that his character blinded six horses. There seems to be more concern about Dan's willy than the substance of the play. But I respect him and his choices."
There is brief mention of other projects David is involved with outside the Harry Potter movies, all of which can be read here.

New audio interviews with Heyman, Craig

Voices from Krypton has released two new interviews with two men who have worked diligently behind-the-scenes with the Harry Potter movies.

One was with producer David Heyman, who spoke about bringing director David Yates back to direct the sixth movie, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. David went into great detail about what Yates brought to the series and the fifth movie, Order of the Phoenix. Unfortunately, not much is said about the sixth movie itself, but is well worth the listen.

A second audio interview, with art director Stuart Craig, is up, as well. Stuart discussed how he had created an entirely digital scene in the fifth Harry Potter movie (in the Hall of Prophesies), and how he works on various sets throughout the series. He mentions how the different directors throughout the movies took specific approaches (he specifically talks about David Yates and Goblet of Fire director Mike Newell).

Three more interviews with Dan Radcliffe

Posted By Ana on 09-06-07 @ 8:28 PM - 2 comments - Link
Still very much in the midst of promoting December Boys, Daniel Radcliffe was on MTV's TRL (link courtesy of HPANA), earlier today (it was pre-recorded from earlier this week), where he spoke about the movie, and answered fan questions. He was asked about Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and said that as far as he knew everyone in the cast would be back, and went on to praise David Yates and his return as well.

Dan, while in Los Angeles, was interviewed by Access Hollywood, and was asked what he thought of the final book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. He said he was very happy with the ending and the book itself.

While in the UK last week, Dan was also interviewed by the Guardian, where it was discussed how much Dan had grown over the years, and focused primarily on the work he did in December Boys. There are mature themes at points, but is otherwise a very great read.

Dan possibly doing 'Equus' in US around late 2008

In an interview with MTV, Daniel Radcliffe mentions all the rumours going about when his play Equus would be make it to the Broadway stage in 2008 (note: this is not confirmed, just in-talks at the moment), and what he thinks is a more accurate assessment:
“There’s an internet frenzy of people who think it’s happening in the spring, but it would be six months later than that,” he said. “In all probability, if everything goes according to plan, it would definitely be me and Richard Griffiths and how many other cast members the unions will allow.” (Griffiths, who co-starred with Radcliffe in the play’s West End run, also plays Uncle Vernon in the Harry Potter movies). “I’m excited. Terrified, but excited.”
There is also a short video where Dan ranks his 'love scenes' in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Equus, and December Boys.

As we reported last week, actors Rupert Grint and Timothy Spall (Ron Weasley and Peter Pettigrew, respectively), were on the BBC documentary British Film Forever, which focused on "Magic, Murder and Monsters." Although the interviews with both actors were brief, Rupert and Timothy discussed the balance of having adult actors in the Harry Potter movies with all the child actors. Timothy mused about how the adults were not interested in doing the movies but in secret really wanted to.

Dan discusses 'December Boys' in interview

Posted By Ana on 08-24-07 @ 6:32 PM - 2 comments - Link
In an interview dating back to July 2006 with DanRadcliffe.com's ACED Magazine, Daniel Radcliffe discussed his upcoming movie December Boys, giving detail about the plot and his character, Maps.

Dan briefly discusses a comparison between Maps and Harry Potter, both of whom are orphans:
Most difficult part of the role?

The difference between Maps and Harry is marked. They are very different characters. Whereas Harry often wears his heart on his sleeve and is quite open—and not very good at always hiding his emotions—Maps is a very, very restrained character.

He doesn’t like particularly talking about how he is feeling, he is very much a solo character. He wants to look after these other three boys. In the end it’s those three boys he cares about and he is focused on them, and looking after them, and he looks out for them at the orphanage and stops them from getting bullied.

December Boys will be released in select theatres starting September 14th.

CBBC Newsround has posted new interviews with Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom), Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood), Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley), and Katie Leung (Cho Chang). Bonnie spoke about how her character evolves in the sixth book, Half-Blood Prince:

"In the sixth book and what happens in the relationship with Harry -- it really shows she's not the little sister anymore -- she's become herself. When I was reading it I wasn't expecting it at all -- it was nice. I liked how it came through, as obviously in the first book she showed a liking towards Harry."

Alan Rickman: Snape is 'quite an insecure person'

"At this point, it's good to have done something for children. I like the fact it's persuaded children to read. If I'm going to be working when I'm 80, I need them as my audience."

Happy birthday, Jo! (And Harry!)

Posted By Matthew on 07-31-07 @ 2:03 AM - 44 comments - Link
Today, July 31st, Jo Rowling celebrates her birthday, as does her world famous literary hero, Harry Potter. It's truly astonishing to think that she was only 25 years old when the idea struck her on a train ride from Manchester to London, an idea that would redefine a generation, shatter the barrier between children's and adult literature, ingrain itself in pop culture, and leave behind an enduring classic for the ages. Hundreds of years after all of us are gone, eager new readers will pick up the first Harry Potter book and be forever entranced by a world that captivates like no other.

"A letter?" repeated Professor McGonagall faintly, sitting back down on the wall. "Really, Dumbledore, you think you can explain all this in a letter? These people will never understand him! He'll be famous -- a legend -- I wouldn't be surprised if today was known as Harry Potter Day in the future -- there will be books written about Harry -- every child in our world will know his name!"
(Page 16, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, UK edition)

Happy Harry Potter Day, everyone. And the warmest of birthday wishes to the world's greatest author.

Meredith Vieira's extended interview with JK Rowling aired tonight in a one-hour special on NBC's "Dateline." Here's a brief summary of non-spoiler-related topics that were touched on:
  • Jo said that although she has to resist the urge to tell everything in a book, the encyclopedia will be a "different kettle of fish."
  • Quidditch remains her favorite made-up word in the series.
  • She explained in more depth why she gave a certain character a reprieve.
  • She "told all three of them (Dan, Rupert, and Emma) stuff about their own characters" before book seven was released.
  • She hopes to take her children to the Harry Potter theme park in Orlando once it opens. She mentioned that "they're planning one ride that's for younger kids."
  • "The world hasn't ended" for her, as she still has the sixth and seventh movies and the theme park ahead of her.
  • "I'd certainly edit 'Phoenix' a bit better," she said. It's "too long."
She concluded by saying that she is "the luckiest woman in the world." Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint were also interviewed about JK Rowling and the books. Dan said that Jo is "totally lovely," and Rupert added that "she's really cool."

UPDATE: A transcript of the entire interview is available on MSNBC, but watch out for spoilers!

Dan, Rupert, Emma interviewed by 'Nickelodeon'

Posted By Matthew on 07-28-07 @ 6:33 PM - 7 comments - Link
Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson are featured in the latest issue of Nickelodeon Magazine, which is now on stands. It can also be viewed online. Here's an excerpt from Emma's interview:
Do you write any notes on your script as you read through it?
Yeah, my scripts have loads of writing all over them. On a couple of occasions, there was a gap and David (Yates) asked me, "What do you think Hermione would say here?" And I got a chance to ad-lib. So I've got loads of different stuff written down on my script that I thought would be funny.

Do you learn your lines ahead of time?
I'm quite bad, actually. I learn them as I'm walking down to the set or in hair and makeup that day. Generally, it's fine because the scenes are short. If it's a big scene, then I'll look at it in advance and make sure I know it.

What actor or actress would you love to work with?
Gosh, Johnny Depp. I think he's such a good actor. He just becomes whoever he's playing.

Meredith Vieira on interviewing JKR

Posted By Matthew on 07-26-07 @ 5:20 PM - 1 comments - Link
Meredith Vieira, of NBC's "Today" show, was interviewed today about her experience meeting and interviewing Harry Potter author JK Rowling. She said, "I had read that she was not an easy interview; I think 'aloof' was the word I read.

"But I found her very much the opposite. I found her warm, I found her charming. I found her protective of her material, but not proprietary."

Vieira also mentioned that JK Rowling "said her biggest regret is not telling her mother about Harry. At the end of the day her biggest regret is that her mom never knew about the books, and if she had she would have been at every book opening, every signing. That was such a lovely moment."

Rowling reveals new post-HPDH information

Posted By Matthew on 07-26-07 @ 1:21 PM - 1 comments - Link
On the "Today" show this morning, JK Rowling provided some new information on the futures of several characters in the Harry Potter books, although we won't say which ones here. She also told why she gave a character a reprieve and discussed the differences between the original epilogue she wrote and the version that appears in Deathly Hallows.

When asked about tying up every loose end, she said, "It would have been humanly impossible to answer every single question that comes up. Because, I’m dealing with a level of obsession in some of my fans that will not rest until they know the middle names of Harry’s great-great-grandparents. I love it. I’m all for that."

The entire portion of the interview that aired today can be seen here (in Internet Explorer only), but it contains significant plot spoilers!

'Scar' no longer last word of book seven

Posted By Matthew on 07-07-07 @ 12:46 AM - 22 comments - Link
In an interview on the Jonathan Ross show last night, JK Rowling said that "scar" is no longer the last word of the seventh and final Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. "It was so for ages, and it's now not," she said. She declined, however, to reveal what is now the final word.

Videos of the interview are now available on YouTube, thanks to MuggleNet. Jo also mentioned on the show that more than two characters are killed off in book seven, joking that it is a "bloodbath." She also praised the fifth movie, saying that "It's great. I think it's the best one."

Video interview with Bonnie, Matt, Evanna, and Katie

On the Morning Show aired in the Philippines, there was a short segment on Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, where they showed brief interviews with Bonnie Wright (Ginny), Evanna Lynch (Luna), Katie Leung (Cho), and Matthew Lewis (Neville). Although most of the segment was in Filipino, the interviews were in English, so you can understand what the kids are saying.

Matthew had this to say about the Harry Potter books:

Being a fan of the books, I had my own vision of it and when I read books now, I still have it, it's still there, because JK Rowling writes it in such a way that you have it all in your head so vividly, and I read it and I'm lost in this universe and I just get taken along with the story.

To watch what the others had to say about the fifth film, the video is up on YouTube. Thanks to Patrice and Bonnie Wright Online for the video.

New interview with Bonnie, Evanna, and Matt

In a new interview, Bonnie Wright (Ginny), Evanna Lynch (Luna), and Matthew Lewis (Neville) discuss working on OOTP, how they've grown up while working on the Harry Potter films, and getting used to the life on the set.

Bonnie talked about how director David Yates approached the character of Ginny. She said, "Each new director gives a new energy to the film, too. David Yates had such a clear vision of what he wanted the film to be and to watch that is really interesting. The main thing that we talked about was how Ginny has become more confident and more feisty - she's not just this little girl any more."

To read the rest, including an incident on-set where Matthew went temporarily deaf, check over at Basingstoke Gazette.

EDIT: The Telegraph has posted an interview with Bonnie, Matthew, Evanna, and Katie Leung (Cho), in which the four kids talk about the fifth movie, as well as the futures of their characters. You can read that here.

New interviews with Emma, Evanna, and more

The Sunday edition of the New Zealand Herald featured new interviews with Emma Watson (Hermione), Evanna Lynch (Luna), Bonnie Wright (Ginny), Matthew Lewis (Neville), and Katie Leung (Cho), about their work on Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Emma had this to say about Ron and Hermione's relationship and David Yates, who will be directing the up-coming Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince:

I think all the stuff between Hermione and Ron will be really funny," Watson says, "and quite fun to play as well. So I'm quite looking forward to all of that. I'm very excited that David Yates will be back for that one. I feel like Order of the Phoenix sets you up so well for Half-Blood Prince, and it feels like there's unfinished business, that David Yates has more to give to the series.

Heyman 'can't wait' for book seven

Posted By Matthew on 06-09-07 @ 11:44 PM - 20 comments - Link
In an interview with Newsweek, Harry Potter producer David Heyman said that he "can't wait" for the release of Deathly Hallows on July 21st.

"I love that I've been doing this nonstop for 10 years and I still don't know how this story ends," he said. He also commented on life post-Potter, saying, "It's a combination of sadness and excitement, I think—for Jo, and for all of us. This world has become a huge part of millions and millions of people's lives. We all love it so much, and I think, afterward, there will be a little hole in our lives for a while."

Carter equates Bellatrix to Hitler

In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Helena Bonham Carter equated Bellatrix Lestrange to Adolf Hitler, saying, "She's very sick. She's a sadist. And a racist, obsessed with blood purity -- like Adolf." Further quotage:

For much of the film, Bellatrix wears a slinky, stitched-together black ensemble that's seen better days -- think Catwoman after a bender. "I wanted her to be sort of falling apart at the seams, literally," says Bonham Carter. "She's very aristocratic, very posh. But there's a Sunset Boulevard thing going on."

New trio photoshoot in 'Teen Vogue'

Posted By Matthew on 05-17-07 @ 1:24 AM - 48 comments - Link
HPANA has posted some excellent scans from the June 2007 issue of Teen Vogue Magazine, which includes an eight-page spread on Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint. Daniel and Emma also made the cover of the issue.

In his interview, Dan said that he hopes that his role in Equus "will allow people to see me as something else. Harry Potter will be the character that got me famous, and will probably be the one that people remember first, but I like to think that if I work hard enough and do as many different things as I can, there will eventually be others that will stick in their minds as well."

When asked about her reluctance to do movies other than Harry Potter, Emma said, "I've read scripts, but nothing's particularly grabbed me, and I don't want to do something just for the sake of doing it. It would have to be a film I feel really passionate about, because I've got so much else going on in my life."

New interview with Evanna Lynch

Evanna Lynch, who will play Luna Lovegood in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, was recently interviewed by the Drogheda Independent about her role in the film. She said:

I’ve been back home since November and gradually all connections with my HP life have been fading. It’s gotten to the point where I feel like it was a dream because everything has gone back almost exactly to how it was before it all happened. It’s possible to forget and it’s only when someone asks ‘when’s the movie coming out?’ that I remember ‘oh yes, that’.

New interview with Dan on 'Equus'

Posted By Matthew on 04-12-07 @ 2:09 AM - 44 comments - Link
Last fall, Page of DanRadcliffe.co.uk conducted an interview with Dan at Leavesden Studios about his role in Equus.

At the time, he said that "the reason it's so good to do [Equus] as a first play is because it is shocking and it is quite controversial and it's very, very thought-provoking. If I had gone and done sort of some light farce or something, people would have just gone, 'Oh, but that's not serious theatre.' It sort of doesn't really get much more serious than Peter Shaffer, than Equus, so that's why I think this play is a fantastic first play to do."

A longer excerpt from the interview is available at DR.co.uk.

"Fine, I'll try and teach him again!" Snape snarled at Professor Dumbledore.

"Severus, please, for me, don't take all those old wounds that you gained from James out on Harry. Harry is not James - do not blame him for what happened." Dumbledore spoke quietly, but his blue eyes held a warning. Snape sighed in frustration...
