Biography: Brendan Gleeson was born on November 9, 1955 in Dublin, Ireland. He started performing early as a child in local stage productions. While attending University College, Brendan auditioned for the National Theatre of Ireland, which didn't work out too well. After years of trying, he decided to put his dreams aside and become a teacher. He taught high school for ten years. In 1989, he picked acting up again and decided to give it another chance. The first role that he landed was in a stage production at the Abbey Theatre. He made his film debut in the movie, "The Field." After a few more roles here and there, he landed a regular role on the television series "Lifeboat." His big break was in the movie "Braveheart," in which he played Hamish. Brendan has received much praise for his roles in "Cold Mountain," "The Gangs of New York," and other films.
