In 1957, she became a professional actress onstage with the Frinton Repertory of Essex. She was first known for her role in 'Billy Liar.' In 1965, she won an Oscar for 'Darling.' Her biggest role yet may have been her role as Nurse Lara in Doctor Zhivago.
