Biography: Ralph Nathaniel Twisleton-Wykeman Fiennes was born on December 22, 1962 in Suffolk, England, UK to Mark Fiennes and Jennifer Lash. While growing up, Ralph and his family moved numerous times but settled in Ireland for a while. He had a strong interest in literature and art. His parents always encouraged him to paint and draw. Not being able to afford school, his mother homeschooled him and his five siblings. When Ralph was an adolescent, his family made another move to Salisbury, Wiltshire, England, where he attended Bishop Wordsworth Boy's School. There, he excelled in school plays and art. After graduating from secondary school, he decided to pursue a career in art. He attended Chelsea College of Art and Design but left after only one year when he realized that his true passion was acting. He then studied at the Royal Academy of the Dramatic Arts from 1982 to 1985. In 1986, he began acting with London's Open Air Theatre. The following year, he moved to the National Theatre, and in 1989, he performed with the Royal Shakespeare Company. He made his film debut in "Wuthering Heights" in 1997.
