Biography: Timothy Spall may be the closest associated with director Mike Leigh. He has has acted for the director on both the stage and screen. Spall made particularly strong impression in "Life is Sweet". He played a socially awkward gourmet chef. Timothy has appeared in a number of disparate productions. He made his film debut with a supporting role in the "Who's Quadrophenia". He spent the next ten years splitting his time and energy between the stage and screen. Spall was named an Officer of the Order of British Empire (OBE) by Queen Elizabeth on New Year's Eve in 1999 for his contributions to the arts.
