Veritaserum | Movie 4- Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire | Viktor Krum auditions
Krum casting
- What: On January 28, 2004, Mike Newell and casting directors set out to look for a Bulgarian teenager to play the role of Viktor Krum in the upcoming Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005).
- Who: Movie director Mike Newell and Bulgarian Casting Director Victor Bozhinov. Also, famous Bulgarian actress Maya Bezhanska will be a jury member at the casting.
- When: February 4th and 4th: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m
- Where: Sofia, Bulgaria
- Why: The movie directors are aiming to create authentic atmosphere and as in the JK Rowling book Victor-Krum is a Bulgarian boy it was decided that someone from the Balkan country has to play that part.
- Requirements: The only requirements for the kids will be fluent English (Perfect knowledge of English is not a must, however, since Krum is rather a character of few words), artistic skills and charm. The boys that are approved will be sent to England for some tests. The candidates for the role of the 17-year-old captain of the Bulgarian Quidditch team, one of the leading roles in the movie, are required to be aged 15-19, swarthy boys in good health. Some knowledge of English is also obligatory. Their appearance must answer to a certain extent the not-so-flattering description of the character in the book - dark, bushy eyebrows, a crooked nose and a slouch.
Charm is a must. The boy must fit the role of a leader and have the necessary qualities.
- Other Notes: He explained that each of the candidates that has the specific appearance would meet jury members and share some general facts about themselves. Those short conversations will be videotaped, and about 15-20 of them will be sent to London for further selection.
