"If we turn our heads and look away and hope that it will all disappear then they will - all of them, an entire generation of people. And we will have only history left to judge us."

Harry Potter Movie 7:
Deathly Hallows Information

Release Date: Summer 2010 (not yet announced)
Director: TBA
Screenwriter: TBA
Returning Cast: Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint (more...)

We currently have sparse information on the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, but we'll tell you everything we know. The film is virtually guaranteed to be released in the summer of 2010, most likely in June or July. Starting with Prisoner of Azkaban in 2004, the Harry Potter films have been on 18-month schedules, and producer David Heyman has indicated that this will continue throughout the rest of the series.

In March 2007, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint confirmed that they will return to play Harry, Hermione, and Ron (respectively) in Deathly Hallows. At the time, Jeff Robinov, President of Production at WB, said, "When Daniel, Rupert and Emma were first cast as Harry, Ron and Hermione, we knew they were not only talented, but had a very special chemistry. Through the years, and in each of the 'Harry Potter' films, we have watched them grow into extraordinary young adults, as well as remarkable actors. It would be inconceivable to imagine anyone else in the roles with which they have become so identified, so we are thrilled and proud that Daniel, Rupert and Emma have chosen to complete the arc of their characters in the final two films."

JK Rowling's Deathly Hallows was released worldwide on July 21, 2007, and since then, the wheels have been turning on the film adaptation. Although no director has been signed for the film, chances are good David Yates will return to helm the saga-ending installment. In the past, all Harry Potter directors have been given the opportunity to return for the next film (Chris Columbus, Alfonso Cuaron, Mike Newell, and now David Yates), so if Yates wants the job, Deathly Hallows will be his. When he announced in May 2007 that he would return to direct Half-Blood Prince, he said that "I'm on a journey with this material and this world, and I'm keen to complete it." We predict that same logic will be behind Yates's eventual decision to direct Deathly Hallows.

David Heyman will return as a producer for the film. Heyman has worked on the Harry Potter movies longer than anyone else, starting in 1997. He is, in many ways, why the movies are as truthful to the books as they are, so we are thrilled that he will return. Helena Bonham Carter, who plays Bellatrix Lestrange, will also return for the movie, as she announced in July 2007.

At a speech in Massachusetts, USA in August 2007, composer John Williams (who scored the first three Harry Potter movies) indicated that he hopes to return for the Deathly Hallows film.
