Frequently Asked Questions:
- Will there be any more Harry Potter books?
No. JK Rowling will never again write a book about the adventures of Harry Potter, as his story reached a "clear end" in Deathly Hallows. She has not completely ruled out the possibility of one day returning to Harry's world, however, and writing about something else in it. (Still, though, the chances of this happening are slim, so don't get your hopes up.) But don't feel too sad! JK Rowling has promised to write a Harry Potter encyclopedia for charity. She has not yet begun to write it, so we don't have a clue when it's going to be released, but keep an eye out for news on it.
- What will happen to Veritaserum now that the final Harry Potter book has been released?
JK Rowling's series may have sold more than 350 million copies worldwide, but the fun is just getting started. Every day from here on out, new readers will pick up a Harry Potter book for the first time and will likely devour the series within weeks. These future fans will need a place to channel their enthusiasm for the books and to discuss their thoughts on a few loose ends that were never quite tied up, so Veritaserum will be around for a long time to come. And even the fans who've been with Harry since the beginning still have a lot to look forward to -- the sixth and seventh movies, the upcoming theme park in Florida, and the encyclopedia, to name a few.
- How can I be in a Harry Potter movie?
While we are in no way involved in the casting of the Harry Potter movies, we will keep Veritaserum's news page updated with any information about open casting calls. Auditions for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince are now over.
- When will the sixth movie come out?
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will be released worldwide on November 21, 2008.
- What do you know about the Harry Potter theme park?
"The Wizarding World of Harry Potter," a multimillion-dollar theme park, is currently in the planning stages. It will open at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida either in late 2009 or early 2010 (right before the Deathly Hallows movie is released). Click here for more information.
- I have some pictures to send in, but I'm not sure who to send them to.
Great! Send us an e-mail through the above form and we'll get back to you.
- What is the difference between the "adult" edition of the books and the
"childrens" edition?
The only difference between the editions are the covers. Bloomsbury (the U.K. publisher)
produced special "adult editions" of the book with what they considered more
grown-up covers in an attempt to broaden Harry's appeal to adults (not that
it was a necessary marketing move). Everything else is exactly the same.
- What is the difference between the British versions and American versions of the Harry Potter books?
Again, the only differences between the two editions are the covers and the formatting. The British editions tend to have fewer pages than the American ones, but only because the page formatting is different. Also, the British editions do not have chapter pictures, as do the American ones.
- I'm planning a visit to London soon and would love to tour the Harry Potter movie set. Is this possible?
Unfortunately, Leavesden Studios does not offer studio tours during Harry Potter filming, but you can still check out other areas where the movies were filmed, such as Gloucester Cathedral, Christ's Church in Oxford, Beacon Hill, the Bodleian Library at Oxford, Fort William, Virginia Water Lake, and the Black Park, which are usually open to the public. We recommend that you check to make sure that these areas will be open before visiting, however.
