Biography: A comic actor, Robbie Coltrane graduated from Glasgow School of Art. In the 1970s he joined a nightclub circuit as a comedian. He later started getting into films with his debut film in 1980, Death Watch. Robbie then did some small film roles but despite that he became a recognizable figure in alternative comedy. He was a frequent participant in "The Comic Strip Presents" productions and BBC's TV series "The Young Ones" and "Blackladder." He won notice for his role as Bob Hoskin's mechanic friend in "Mona Lisa." He starred in the British TV detective series "Cracker" as Fitz, a nervous forensic psychologist who helps crack cases. He won a BAFTA TV award for the role, and he won a Cable ACE award when it was rebroadcast in the U.S.

He graduated from the Glasgow School of Art where he majored in drawing, painting and film.
