Biography: Shirley Henderson was born in 1966 in Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland to a middle-class working family. As a teenager, she sang locally and performed in many area plays. She was accepted into London's Guildhall School of Music and Drama after many performances such as when she sang on the "Opportunity Knocks" talent program. She later starred on stage in England's National Theatre Company, which helped her get a role on a British TV drama series called "Hamish Macbeth."
